Science and Scripture

One of the coolest parts about Scripture is that it contains History, Hydrology, Archaeology, Anthropology, Geology, Physiology, Astronomy, Biology and Scientific Facts. Every time the Bible touches on these things, it is absolutely accurate. Someone told me it was just a story Book. But studying it out, you will find that it is a real book about real places, real events, real people  and a real God. What is awesome and amazing is that The Bible contained these facts  literally thousands of years before man discovered them:

Creation cannot be scientifically explained. 

Job 12:7- But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you.-Who among all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this?--. 

 

 

Psalm 19:1 --the sky above proclaims His handiwork. 

 

 

Romans 1:20 - For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

An Evolutionist and Philosopher Herbert Spencer made a profound scientific statement: "Everything in the universe can be explained by five basic things - space, matter, time, force and action." 

Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning (time) God (force) created (action) the heavens (space) and the earth (matter).

Most of everything Scientists have discovered have been in recent years because of Technology. One being that everything we see is composed of invisible Atoms.

Hebrews 11:3 -  By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

Stars emit radio waves, which are received on earth as a high pitch.

Job 38:7 - When the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy-.

The early scientists believed that stars were all the same.  They found today that there are infinite numbers of varieties and sizes.

 Corinthians 15:41 -  There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.

In the 17th century there was a (Ptolemaic) view that the earth is a flat thing, and it's in a hollow globe. A hollow globe, and the stars were stuck in the inside of the globe like little jewels; and the globe just kept going around, and the flat earth just watched it go around. That was popular till 1472 to 1543 when Copernicus lived. Later Galileo came along and presented the fact that there is no end to it. That it is not a little ball with a bunch of things stuck on the inside of it. That it is endless.

Job 22:12 - "Is not God in the height of heaven? Look also at the distant stars, how high they are!

 [Isaiah 55:9, Jeremiah 31:37, 33:22  ~The recognition that it's far off].

2000 years before Scientists discovered the cycle of air currents. 

Ecclesiastes 1:6 - The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns.

Less than 200 years ago it is said that if you lose your blood you lose your life. Before that bloodletting was used for therapeutic purposes thinking it would do them good. Now we put blood into people because we know the life of the flesh is in the blood.  Our Blood also contains information.

Leviticus 17:11 - For the life of the flesh is in the blood,-.

3000 years later Scientists discovered the Earth is not sitting on a large animal, but on nothing.

Job 26:7 - He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.

3000 years later Doctors discovered that your hands don't get clean in still water but in running water.

Leviticus 15:13 - And when he that hath an issue is cleansed of his issue; then he shall number to himself seven days for his cleansing, and wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in running water, and shall be clean.

300 years later a philosopher theorized the earth was round when it was thought that the Earth was flat.

Isaiah 40:22 - It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in;

These orbits are so absolute that they can predict them to the very hour. Because the orbits of those planets are absolutely constant. 

Jeremiah 31:35 - 36 - Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar— the LORD of hosts is his name: “If this fixed order departs from before me, declares the LORD, then shall the offspring of Israel cease from being a nation before me forever.”

 The old view was that the sun revolved around the earth. Later we find the sun, with our entire solar system actually does move through space in orbit. It says there that it's going forth is from one end of heaven to the other. 

Psalm 19:6 - Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

Not many years ago, scientists believed that the moon was a great luminous (bright or shining) body. Now we know the moon's surface reflects light from the sun.

Job 25:5 - Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes;

The earth is perfectly balanced, that there is equal weight to support land mass and mountains and valleys and water, the whole thing is perfectly balanced. The water in the oceans exerts a pressure against the shore that keeps the mountains up and the earth has different weights of rocks at different places to balance it out.

Isaiah 40:12 - Behold the Lord God who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, marked off the heavens with the span (half a cubit) and calculated the dust of the earth by the measure, weighed the mountains in a balance and the hills with a pair of scales.

Psalm 104:4-8 - He established the earth on its foundation so that it will not totter. -. -. The mountains rose. The valleys sank down to the place which you appointed for them. You set a boundary that they may not pass, so that they might not again cover the earth.

When it was believed the Ocean floor was flat.

​

Jonah 2:5-6 - "Water encompassed me to the point of death. The great deep engulfed me, Weeds were wrapped around my head, at the roots of the mountains. I went down to the land whose bars closed upon me forever; yet you brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God.

2 Samuel 22:16 - Then the channels of the sea were seen; the foundations of the world were laid bare, at the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
 

Ocean floor contains deep valleys and mountains.

In the 1800's Matthew Maury discovered these warm and cold continental currents and much more.

In 1864, British Scientist James Clark Maxwell said that electricity and light waves were 2 forms of the same thing. Light can be sent and manifest itself in speech.  

In Job 38:35 - The LORD answered Job - Can you send forth lightnings, that they may go and say to you, ‘Here we are’? 

Light waves and Radio waves: All of electromagnetic radiation from radio waves to x-rays, travels at the speed of light.

A scientific study was conducted by the South Korean World Class Ship research center Crisco. They compared 12 hauls of different shapes and discovered that no modern design outperformed the Biblical Model: Noah's Ark. Many contemporary ships are built with similar proportions (to the one built thousands of years ago).

Genesis 6:15 - This is how you are to make it: the length of the ark 300 cubits, its breadth 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits.

Quarantine: The Bible speaks of quarantine long before medical science discovered the importance of isolating those with infectious diseases. The devastating black death of the 14th century is estimated to have killed 30% - 60% of Europe's population. This was because they failed to separate the sick from the healthy. Quarantine came in the 17th century.  

Leviticus 13:46 - He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be outside the camp.

The oldest book in the Bible described the process of evaporation and precipitation: 

 

 Job 36:27-28 - For He draws up the drops of water; they distill rain from the mist, which the clouds pour down, and the drip upon man abundantly."

Psalm 135:7 - He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightnings for the rain.

Vapor goes up and rain comes down. So the Scripture gives the hydro-logical cycle and the features of evaporation.

The 1 st Law of Thermodynamics - the conservation of mass and energy. 

God, in the right simultaneous beginning, put all the right things together; and when He put it together, He stopped and creation ended right there; and science agrees that there was the initial beginning of these things; and then, out of that, came the cycle of reproduction; but energy and matter have continued. The same continuum goes on and on and on. There's no need for later creations, and that's exactly what it says in 

Genesis 2:2 - God ended His work which He had made

Our emotional center can cause debilitating and even fatal illness. It changes the amount of blood flow. Emotional stress can increase the amount or decrease the amount of blood flow and, consequently, cause disease. Emotional stress at the center of the nervous system can affect secretions of certain glands. Another way that emotion changes physical health is by creating muscle tension. the Bible anticipated all of that. The Bible spoke of our emotions, that your emotions were very, very important in terms of your health.

 

Proverbs 16:24 - Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.
 

God knows that emotional stress, anger, criticism, and sour words could affect physical health, and that's right there. There's no way those people could've clinically discovered that. God revealed it.

 

Proverbs 17:22 - A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

There are 40  writers of the Bible. Written  within a 1,600 year period. Containing information that we now know is true and beneficial, because of our modern technology and discovery.  All of the discoveries that man has recently made, were already written thousands of years ago in this Book. Not only that, but it was written by 40 men, from different cultures, in different places and at different times. Yet it is perfect. There are no contradictions. It flows together perfectly. It speaks truth and Wisdom. The only way a book can contain so much truth and  be without error, is if God who is truth, created all things, and knows all things, used these men as a vessel to write it. This Book is for us. If it speaks of earthly truth, it must also speak of Spiritual Truth. If that is the case, we must listen to what it says about sin and how to be saved from it, so that we can be reconciled to the One created us and know Him.

There are historical discoveries regularly coming to light that continue to support the accuracy of the Bible. Merrill Unger, who compiled a Bible dictionary wrote, “Old Testament archaeology has rediscovered whole nations, resurrected important peoples, and in a most astonishing manner filled in historical gaps, adding immeasurably to the knowledge of Biblical backgrounds.”

There are more than 3,200 verses with fulfilled prophecy either within the Bible itself or since the Bible was written. But there are still more than 3,100 verses with unfulfilled prophecies.

There are no contradictions in the Bible. Various people claim to find contradictions but they have to take verses out of context to do so. When looking at the Bible as a whole and understanding its teachings there are no contradictions. This is amazing when one considers that the Bible was written over such a long period of time.

There is only one way this truth could have been known, and that is the God who made the world revealed it. Is the Bible believable? Science tells us that it is. Science has never yet refuted the Scripture, but rather confirmed it. In the final analysis, I submit the truth is won and Jesus said this, "Thy Word is truth." It's true on any subject it ever touches. Therein lies the product of its inspiration.

The Word of God is Inspired

​

For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:21

 

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16

​

2 Samuel 23:2 ~ Ezekiel 1:3 ~ Micah 1:1 ~ Luke 1:70 ~ Acts 1:16 ~ Acts 3:18 ~ Etc.
 

What Book written by men can undergo such scrutiny and still stand ?

The Bible has been pecked at for ages and still endures. What a book, united, unique, indestructible. - JFM

Errors in Scripture

​

A.T. Robertson, who's a great scholar, said this, and I quote, "There are some 8,000 manuscripts of the Latin, and at least 1,000 for the other early versions. Add to that 4,000 Greek manuscripts, and we have 13,000 manuscript copies of the New Testament. And all 13,000 essentially agree." That's exciting. God has preserved it. This shows the pure preservation of Scripture. Thirteen thousand manuscripts written in different periods, different origins, from all different areas and by all different men in all different periods of time, agree.

​

In the New Testament, for example, textual scholars who study all these manuscripts find there are certain areas of human errata. That means error, mistakes. And the scribe copying may get a letter wrong, or there may be some kind of an inverted word order or something like that. They have found that there are certain things. But it is less than one word in every thousand. In fact, one out of every 1,580 words in the Old Testament has any kind of configuration that varies with another one in another manuscript.

​

Listen to this, quoting from Morris, "Although there are varying readings in the manuscripts, over 99 percent of the variations are spelling." Spelling. I mean, we can understand if a guy didn't spell too well. Over 99 percent of all the errors are spelling mistakes. Friends, that's exciting. Less than 1 percent of anything in here is a true error. And that's after centuries and centuries and centuries. John F. MacArthur

The Bible is the Inerrant Word containing Historical, Hydrology, Archaeological, Geology, Astronomy, Biological and Scientific Facts. It is a real book about real places, real events, real people  and a real God. Though it is written over a 1600 year period by 40 different authors all from different places and cultures, there is unity - it fits together perfectly. Also if the Bible are the very Words of God, then what it says about Salvation and Damnation must be true as well.If God wrote this book, and if God wrote it correctly, that's inspiration and inerrancy, then it'll be just as right scientifically as it is spiritually. Salvation

 

 

After man's first sin, everyone born after them was and is  born in sin. Our sin separates us from God because He is Holy. If He is Holy and we are sinful, what should God do with us sinners?  By our nature, we hate God and rebel against him (John 3:18-21), we are most deserving of His wrath - Hell.  God is Holy and Just but he is also Loving and Merciful. So much, that  he humbled himself and came down in human likeness, to obey God's law perfectly on our behalf -  that we could not perform. Not only that but He paid sin debt that we deserve - the FULL Cup of God's Wrath. All so that we could be reconciled to God and live forever with him. His righteousness to us and our sin to him, we are only saved by Christs works.

 

This is a free gift that God offers, those who reject it, will pay for their own sins in hell forever.

The standard to be in heaven with God is perfection, no one enters through their own works.

For some there is nothing to lose if you believe it, but if it is true, than they have Eternal Life to lose.
